From Research
Scientist to Real Estate; My Journey
Hi, I’m Andi Peck and I live in the
Portland/Beaverton area. I’d like to share
with you a little about my journey ultimately leading
to real estate, and why I think you’ll find
my credentials and experience of benefit to you.
I grew up on a farm
in Mississippi around construction. I remember
how much fun my cousin and I had wearing our "tool" belts to be like our grandfather
and uncles as they "put us to work." What
fun we had! It was fun to see a new building come
together and understand the process it took to get
there. I vividly remember the feelings of wonder
and awe when walking for the first time into our
new barn, wing of the house, garage, work house,
equipment shed, and of course the most important,
our play house and tree house. Because my father
is a construction manager, I had the privilege of
understanding heavy civil construction projects such
as bridges, dams, tunnels, power plants, and high
rises. He answered my endless questions and showed
me the science behind building. As a result of these
experiences, when entering a house today I look for
its´ character, personality and energy; some
of the features that make it a "home." I
enjoy walking around new construction and talking
about the foundation, structure and design, and visualizing
what it will look like once completed. It’s
exciting to watch a dream come true!
My educational background
includes a PhD in biochemistry. I spent 12 years
as a clinical and laboratory research scientist
both at Boston University Medical Center and Oregon
Health & Science University. I utilized
my knowledge of building to assist the discovery
process and worked to identify "problems" in
the most efficient way possible. I was extensively
involved in research in the Alzheimer’s disease
process and hereditary eye disease. This was a wonderful
experience utilizing the scientific and technical
aspects, as well as working with patients and their
families. Another aspect of my work involved clinical
trials that directly resulted in additions to infant
formula for better visual development.
After years in research
science it was time for a change. I selected real
estate because one of my greatest passions is my
love for people and helping to meet their needs.
Sincerely, I have a servant’s
heart, and after much prayer and soul searching I
believe that real estate has allowed me to serve
my clients while utilizing my skills of creative
problem solving to help my clients achieve their
goals. Dennis Kviz and I are the co-owners of Avalar
Realty, and together we strive to provide the highest
quality real estate services in our market areas.
Besides real estate,
I’m actively involved
in Cedar Mill Bible Church, love animals, reading,
scuba diving, and enjoy the great outdoors of the
Pacific Northwest; both mountains and the coast.
I hope you’ll consider me for your next real
estate need If you choose to work with me, I am confident
that together we will be able to achieve your goals.
I’m enthusiastic about sharing the joy, excitement
and pleasure with you as we celebrate that success.
